Let’s get to work! On the fourth Saturday of every month, we come together to take care of our garden. For our August workday, we’ll be tackling light tasks, and beating the heat with a community potluck and refreshment party. Tasks are accessible to all abilities and ages. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and something tasty to share.
Cool Weather Gardening Class (Seed Swap + Potluck)
Learn the essentials of starting and caring for a cool weather garden from Master Gardener David Petit. In this 1.5 hour class, you’ll learn how to plan and maintain your fall and winter garden. This event includes:

Seed swap
Community potluck
Bring your questions, and if you have seeds to share, bring those too! We’ll end this workshop with a seed swap and potluck.
About David Petit
A longtime gardener right here at College Area Community Garden, David Petit has helped build and run many projects on our grounds. From the fruiting blackberry tunnels to our beautiful pollinator garden, his expertise as a Master Gardener has help shape much of the community we’ve grown today.

Join us for a special Volunteer Work Day, where we’re bringing community together for an activity-packed day of fun. Help us build and maintain the garden, join for the children’s storytime, and share a bite at our community potluck!
Event Schedule:
9-10am — Build Raised Beds: As the recipient of a grant from the San Diego Master Gardeners, we’re building brand new, gopher-proof garden beds! We’ll also tackle composting, harvesting of donation plots, and more activities for all abilities.
10-11am — Children’s Storytime: Presented by Nigel of the College-Rolando Library
11-12pm — Potluck: Bring a dish to share, pick up a plate, and dig in!

Aztecs Rock Hunger Volunteer Event

College Area Community Garden welcomes SDSU Alumni, students, and all volunteers to join us for an Aztecs Rock Hunger volunteer event! Every year, Aztecs Rock Hunger helps raise funds to support the A.S. Food Pantry, SDSU Economic Crisis Response Team, and more.
Come out to show your support with a couple hours of fun in the garden! We’ll be composting, making seed bombs, mulching, and so much more!

Our class is open to all levels and donation based (so, give whatever you can!) The majority of the funds raised will be donated to a rotating organization.
Please make sure to bring your own mat, blanket for under your mat, any props that will best support your practice, and a water bottle. There is water and a bathroom on site.
