Help us grow

  • Provide more onsite classes in all gardening topics. Partnership with subject matter experts.
  • Improve garden’s visibility in community by increasing social media presence and possibly buying ads in local papers.
  • Assistance with grant identification and administration as well as donor relationships.
  • Need for more information booths and tabling at various events around S.D. County.
  • Explore options for long term stability of garden. Raise funds to purchase the  land we currently lease.

 Improvements needed at the garden

  • Install lightweight roof over existing fenced-in storage areas in order to catch more rain water and provide much needed shade to gardeners using tool and material storage areas.
  • Upgrading some existing aisles and pathways by spreading decomposed granite to create wheelchair accessible areas.
  • Install air vents on roof and exterior walls on three existing portable storage sheds.
  • Rent one portable toilet and provide periodic cleaning service. Garden has no bathroom and this necessitates time consuming trips offsite to use bathrooms.
  • Upgrade existing service roadway. Purchase and spread decomposed granite over the existing main service road to create a more stable and rain permeable surface.
  • Twice a year removal of extensive areas of non-native weeds and shrubs in order to reduce fire hazard.
  • Purchase and install additional large rainwater storage tank and necessary piping/valves
  • Purchase stack able concrete landscaping blocks so we can create a 3 foot tall wall to reduce erosion.
  • Drinking water fountain. Purchase and Install long delayed drinking water fountain and water bottle filler station next to existing hand wash station.
  • Purchase and install outdoor weatherproof info/bulletin board inside garden which will be visible from outside front gate
  • Purchase and install two new outdoor informational signs to be located near/at garden entrance.
